We bought some of these for a client who wanted a bigger radio than the now normal micro-size ones. We had the Icom IC-V8 for a while then when stocks of these ran out, swapped to the IC-V82 the newer model.
When Icom sold these, they were advertised as digital compatible, and an extra board could be fitted that enabled digital operation. Our supplier could not supply any of these, so we're selling them as a capable analogue chunky handheld. They're unlocked wide band and we buy them primarily for operation on Marine band - but they'll also work well for any ham radio or business radio use. We have not experimented programming them from a computer, not having a programming cable - so programming has been done from the keypad.
The desk charger is supplied with a two pin American style adaptor for 115-260V operation, so you will need a shaver style adapter to charge the battery.
If you need a sensible priced, bigger radio for ham, marine or business - this could be ideal.
For Marine - you can program the frequencies into channel slots so you can operate via the memories - so channel 16 would be 156.800MHz etc.
